7th grade- Introduction to FACS- Students will be introduced to areas of Food and Nutrition and explore the basics of nutrients and kitchen safety. Child development will also be introduced as students begin to understand the grow and developmental need of children ages 1 to 6 years of age. Students also learn the basics of using a sewing machine and common hand stitches used to mind and repair garments. Relationship and what influences our choices in private and social situations during adolescences.
8th grade- Exploration of FACS-Students will spend time on the basics of consumer responsibility and how to manage a bank account. They will learn this through simulation scenarios. After exploring how to manage money, student will be introduced to career cluster and research. Using design principles, student will design and organize a bedroom floor plan. Students will present their knowledge to the class. If time allows, students will mastery knife skills used in the kitchen when preparing fruits and vegetables.
